Mock Draft 2.0

Who has moved up, Who has moved out?

by Justin Day – Director of Scouting | @JDayErrday | mail@3PSMag.com

Tennessee Takes Tunsil instead of Bosa: In my initial mock I had the Titans taking Bosa & now that looks very unlikely. It seems as if the Titans do not have a trade partner to move back & they are keen on Tunsil. I would go Bosa but it looks like Tunsil is the likely selection.

Quarterback switches: Initially it was Paxton Lynch to Cleveland but the hype train has now firmly positioned itself behind Carson Wentz so it looks like he’s the likely unlucky guy who goes to Cleveland. Which leaves Paxton Lynch to the Eagles at 13 & Jared Goff to the Rams at 15.

Nkemdiche in, Noah Spence out: Noah Spence is a monster, yes, but I’m not sure a team will take him in the first. Nkemdiche’s off the field issues have been over exaggerated and his motor is a major point of concern. Much like Clowney, people question his motor but not his talent. I think after the interview process, teams will likely pass on Spence in the first.

Late Round Fits:

Chicago Bears get two steals: If teams do indeed pass on Noah Spence and Chicago does select him, after getting Jaylon Smith in the first, they will have won this draft in theory. Spence is a specimen & Smith is my number one player in this draft when healthy.

Hackenberg to the Texans until I’m told otherwise: Maybe I stick to my guns too often, but I’m not changing my rankings and Hackenberg is my number one QB. If I have to put him in the first to the Texans after the great combine I am expecting, then I will. Bill O’Brien will get his guy, mark my words.

Connor Cook, not Brock Osweiler: I’m making the prediction now, whether or not the Broncos sign Osweiler or not will not matter. If they do get Cook in the 2nd, he will be the answer at QB after Peyton, not Osweiler. That’s not an indictment on Osweiler, just an overwhelming endorsement of Connor Cook.

Heavy Defense in NOLA: Sean Peyton, known for his offense, should go defense in the first 3 round. If they do get Mackensie Alexander in the first (my #1 corner), Andrew Billings in the 2nd, & Kentrell Brothers in the 3rd that defense will be well on track to being much better in the future. All 3 potential starters on that defense.

Unknown commodity with connections: Southeast Missouri State’s Paul McRoberts started to hit people’s radars during the senior bowl. I’ve seen him play countless times in person, since we attended the same university. The new GM in Tennessee is also a graduate of SEMO & the buzz is that they will bite on the raw receiver.
