NFL Free Agency begins Wednesday at 4pm eastern, and teams started the process of releasing players who’s contracts would have become guaranteed when the new league year starts.
So far a handful of suprises, but more are sure to come as the deadline nears (list to be updated as more information comes available).
Philadelphia released linebacker DeMeco Ryans
Los Angeles released defensive end Chris Long
New Orleans released wide receiver Marques Colston
New York Giants released guard Geoff Schwartz
Buffalo released former number 1 overall NFL Draft pick Mario Williams
New England released wide receiver Brandon LaFell
San Diego released running back Donald Brown
Carolina released defensive end Charles Johnson
Jacksonville released guard Zane Beadles
Houston released their all-time leading rusher Arian Foster
Atlanta released their all-time leading receiver Roddy White
Buffalo released cornerback Leodis McKelvin
In the coming days I expect Robert Griffin III, Johnny Manziel, Geno Smith, Riley Cooper, Brandon Pettigrew, Brandon Browner, Brandon Carr and Donte Whitner to all face the chopping block prior to Wednesdays deadline.
