-Alabama picked up all 45 first-place votes for a second straight week and was followed by No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Michigan as well. But Louisville fell from No. 4 all the way to No. 12 after a road loss at Houston. Clemson moved into No. 4.

-LSU, Utah and West Virginia dropped out of the poll after losses. Because the poll actually had 17 teams in it last week because of a tie for 16th, only two new teams are in the poll this week, Florida and Florida State.

-The Big Ten had four teams in the poll, followed by three teams each from the ACC, Pac-12 and SEC. The Big 12 had two teams and the Mid-American one.

This Week’s Key Games: No. 16 Auburn at No. 1 Alabama; No. 3 Michigan at No. 2 Ohio State; South Carolina at No. 4 Clemson; No. 5 Washington at Washington State (Fri.); Minnesota at No. 6 Wisconsin; Michigan State at No. 7 Penn State; Utah at No. 9 Colorado; Notre Dame at No.11 USC; No. 13 Florida at No. 14 Florida State; Toledo at No. 15 Western Michigan (Fri.).
