Ex-NFLers Join AFL Broadcast Teams
Moss, Ismail join Washington and Baltimore crews
This Spring, Monumental Sports Network will launch partnerships with ActionStreamer and Greenfly to bring enhanced digital content to its subscription-based online content platform from AFL teams Washington Valor and Baltimore Brigade and the WNBA’s Washington Mystics. Launching ahead of a packed Spring/Summer season, the Network will integrate ActionStreamer’s innovative live-streaming wearable camera technology into various components of live game coverage, including broadcasts of the upcoming Valor and Brigade seasons. Additionally, with Greenfly, the Network will build and activate a curated community of video contributors, to provide fans with authentic, behind-the-scenes content from team players, influencers and key representatives.
ActionStreamer’s wide-angle, real-time camera technology puts fans right in the middle of the game, bringing viewers onto the field for live action and instant replay highlights of their favorite moments. Greenfly’s platform for managing contributor communities enables the Network to pull in original content from players, coaches and staff from the Valor, Brigade and Mystics. These videos, images and links created during their free time, pre- and post-games, will be pushed out to viewers, giving fans unique, one-of-a-kind access. Plus, keeping in line with its goal of providing an elevated experience for all ages, the Monumental Sports Network app is now available on Xbox One, where fans’ queued and favorited content will be saved and accessible across the platform at any time.
The tech partnerships arrive as the network gears up to provide next-level engagement with live-stream coverage of the upcoming AFL season (which kicks off April 7th with a Valor home opener against the Brigade), offering fans commentary and sideline activity from expert commentators. Subscribers to the digital network will have the opportunity to hear 106.7 FM The Fan’s Grant Paulsen call play-by-play commentary for the Washington Valor alongside newly announced color analyst Santana Moss, former Washington Redskins wide receiver. Brigade fans will receive similarly skilled insight from former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver, Qadry Ismail, the new color analyst for the Baltimore Brigade.
Qadry will be joined in the booth by long-time Baltimore sports broadcaster, anchor and reporter, Brent Harris, who will call plays for the newly formed franchise. Barstool Eric and Barstool Banks of Barstool Sports will join in on the fun, too, representing the fan perspective for each Brigade game, with sports journalist Travis Thomas in a similar role for the Valor. Monumental Sports Networks’s own Caitlin Mangum will report from the Valor sidelines, while contributing sports reporter Anna Tarullo will be on the field for the Brigade.
“We are so proud to announce our partnerships with ActionStreamer and Greenfly that allow us to virtually bring subscribers onto the playing field alongside their favorite teams and players,” says Monumental Sports Network Vice President and General Manager Zach Leonsis. “We’re also thrilled to introduce our new roster of on-air talent for this season’s AFL games, providing fans with expert insight and overviews of our newest sports teams all season long.”
