Movement in the polls after Week 2
Alabama remained No. 1 for a second straight week during the regular season, followed by Oklahoma, which jumped to No. 2 after its impressive 31-16 road victory over the previous No. 2, Ohio State. Clemson, Penn State, USC and Michigan were the next four teams in order. The Buckeyes dropped seven spots to No. 9. USC defeated Stanford, which dropped out of the poll and was replaced by Miami (Fla.). Alabama received 44 first-place votes, Oklahoma two and Clemson one.
The Big Ten, SEC and ACC all had four teams in the poll. The Big 12 and the Pac-12 had two each.
