After two seasons sweltering in Scuba, Mississippi, the crew behind the Emmy Award nominated hit moves west to tell another story in the world of JUCO football. This summer we will get a peek at the Independence Community College Pirates, former Arena Football League quarterback and 2nd year head coach Jason Brown, and the soon to be 21 signees headed to four year universities take on the 2017 schedule.

Independence CC is part of a fierce group of eight schools who play in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference that has sent players like Steve Tasker, Jason-Pierre Paul, Corey Dillon, Larry Brown, Brandon Jacobs, and Alvin Kamara onto D-1 schools before their stops in the NFL.

In 2016, the Pirates went 5-4 in Brown’s first year at the helm, their first winning season in a long time, and based off how Brown handles his team in the newly released teaser trailer, it seems evident that a change in attitude was a needed change of pace.

The series focuses on former Florida State quarterback Malik Henry, Michigan running back Kingston Davis, and Texas Tech wide receiver Carlos Thompson as well as the academic advisers, professors, and town that wants to help these kids advance their careers.

Five of the twenty one players who signed to four year universities in February are headed to Power Five conferences including defensive tackle Emmit Gooden (Tennessee), running back Rakeem Boyd (Arkansas), wide receiver Calvin Jackson (Washington State), defensive back Delrick Abrahams (Colorado), and offensive lineman Tramonda Moore (Oklahoma).

The season will be available on Netflix on July 20th, and will include an update episode of Seasons 1 & 2 stars coach Buddy Stevens, adviser Brittany Wagner, and players from EMCC.
