Early 2019 Heisman Favs
Yes, it’s only Week 3, BUT DECEMBER WAITS FOR NO ONE
It’s early in the season but it’s never to soon to rank and speculate who could walk away with the Heisman Trophy this season.
- Joe Burrow – QB – LSU
Has there been any player who has been as impressive and more improved so far than LSU’s Joe Burrow?
After a pretty stellar junior season, especially considering the level of quarterbacking LSU is used to, Burrow has gotten out to a stellar start including delivering a knockout punch on the road at Texas. He’s completing over 80% of his passes, thrown for 749 yards, 9 TDs, and only 1 INT. He also has the biggest win of my top three. So, I think Mr. Burrow is very deserving of being the Heisman favorite as of right now.
- Jalen Hurts – QB – Oklahoma
Lincoln Riley is unfair.
He really may run the table three years in a row when it comes to Heisman trophies. Something I thought would be impossible coming into the season. If he makes Jalen Hurts into the #1 overall pick, I would be willing to name my first-born Lincoln. Hurts has accumulated three rushing touchdowns to go with an 82.9 completion percentage, 591 passing yards, and six touchdowns. If he continues to produce at that clip, Oklahoma may be looking at three straight Heisman trophies.
- Justin Fields – QB – Ohio St.
Justin Fields and Ryan Day have been one of the most electric quarterback/head coach combinations to start the 2019 college football season.
Fields has been electric completing 76% of his passes, throwing for 458 yards, and six touchdowns. To top it off Fields has ran for three touchdowns as well. When it comes to the bets dual threat quarterbacks in the country, Justin Fields is right near the top. For me it’s not a matter of will he win the Heisman, it’s when?
It may not be 2019 but there will be a Heisman trophy in this kid’s future.
